The City of Nelson has contracted Nelson Urban Trappers to assist in the removal of skunks from residential properties
from Apr 26th, 2010 to Aug 6th, 2010.

Residents within the City of Nelson may call:

for the removal of skunks within city limits at no charge to residents.

Trappers Ink. will set a trap on your premises for the potential removal of skunks. The staff of Trappers Ink. will return your call within one day of receipt of your request.

DOG RESTRICTED ZONE

The City of Nelson has a By- Laws that stipulate some restrictions
on animal owners which are summarized in this pamphlet.
Some of the restrictions are as follows:

• All dogs must have a licence. This licence can be purchased from the cashier at City Hall.
• There are lower licence fees for dogs owned by seniors. There are
  higher fees and more restrictions for vicious dogs. Licences are not
  transferable.
• You are not permitted to keep more than two dogs or two cats
  in a residential zone in the City.
• You are not permitted to tie your dog to any public building,
  structure, traffic control post, parking meter post, sign, tree or
  power pole on a public place in the City.
• You must ensure that your dog does not cry, bark, yelp, howl or
  make noises that disturbs the neighbourhood.
• There are special provisions and very severe penalties for
  harbouring a vicious dog and these are explained in detail in
  the by- law.
• Dogs are not permitted in Lakeside Park.
• You must ensure that your dog does not defecate on another
  person's property, on any street, lane, boulevard, pathway, or
  any other City or public property, or on any property used or
  preserved as a park, recreation or cultural area.

*A Certificate from a qualified Veterinarian is required as proof
that the dog has been neutered or spayed.

Contravention of any of the provisions of the By- Law may result in
your dog being impounded, a penalty levied for release of the dog
or the dog being destroyed.
