Chamber Music![]() The St. Mark's String Quartet in Performance Miranda Hughes, David Stewart, Stephanie Judy and Heather Huether. I am currently the member of several ensembles. The St. Mark's String Quartet is made up of two members from the New Denver area and two from Argenta, BC, another small community about 90 minutes away. We play for fun, but usually with one or more performance goals in mind. Our most recent performances were along an avian theme in conjunction with the local arts council's springtime "Waiting for the Birds" arts extravaganza. Among other works we played the suitably birdish Haydn Lark Quartet. I also play in the newly-named "Galena Trio" with a local pianist and cellist. And newly formed in the area is the "Fairweather Consort", a group of a dozen string players interested in chamber orchestra music. We are recently performed an all-baroque concert. My additional musical activities include the Slocan Community Orchestra, a local amateur orchestra, for which I arrange music, play and (gasp!) conduct. I'm an occasional member of the Selkirk Chamber Orchestra based in Nelson, when transportation and child-care allow. And I've been known to perform alone or even play duets with my mother, something neither of us would have believed possible, let alone enjoyable, twenty years ago! I teach violin using the Suzuki method. You can read more about the method and link to various musical resources here. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
