A variety of terrain awaits within close proximity of the lodge to
satisfy all levels of skiers and snowboarders. Just out the door below the lodge is the area we call the "Breakfast Runs".
On the many mornings when there has been a fresh snowfall overnight this area beckons early risers to sneak out and carve first tracks. Further below the slopes steepen and the trees grow closer and tighter. Skiers will be drawn to continue downward, exploring the many small openings in the forest. This treed area is popular on whiteout days when snowfall makes visibility in open areas difficult. A perfect lunch stop is found at Mosquito Lake in the valley bottom.
Above the lodge are many easily-accessed, open ridges providing
spectacular views of the surrounding area on clear days, and a great variety of open slopes to ski back down to the lodge at the end of the day.
Longer day trips include a tour to the south to the wide open "North
Face" and beyond into the cirque basin containing Little Joe Lakes, or a steep climb to the north through the "Trap Door" to the 600 metre (2000 foot) continous slopes in "The Attic".
For guests seeking a less strenuous day, the gently rolling
lightly-treed slopes and meadows near the lodge offer excellent terrain for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing.
Lise Nicola Lake is located just a few metres from the lodge and is an excellent place for an easy moonlight tour or to use as the runout for a wild luge run!
