SLICES OF A LIFE
Seven decades of images by Teekay

1986 to 1995

When Ocean Falls population dropped to 60, time to move on. So, on to the beautiful Kootenay country in the Interior of B.C. - a choice that turned out well.

My new home had fruit trees and greenery, but was best described as a "fixer-upper" or "handyman's special". It kept me busy renovating for over ten years until I finally sold, moving to share a larger house.

In 1987, back to England for the first time in 30 years. It had changed, but much in the countryside looked the same.

All the aircraft I used to fly are now in museums. At Newark, I found this Meteor NF14, which looks positively archaic. They did let an old pilot climb into the cockpit.

A typical view of Kokanee Creek Park on Kootenay Lake, taken in 1995.

With beautiful sandy beaches backed by shady forest, it is very popular as a campsite in the summer but, because it's so large, it never seems crowded.
