In what order should they be arranged? How should they be described? Would they want to be named? Some might not like a particular shot, or wouldn't want their picture on a Web page at all without permission, so for this reason I haven't included many fine images. This has inevitably resulted in a site with too much about myself and not enough about others.
For now, on this page I've taken a safe route with just a few images that I hope will be acceptable, but ideas from family or friends on what, or who, they would like to see would be most welcome. I'd love to show some fine "pics from your past"!
Salishan, a small resort on Galiano Island, was where
we spent several idyllic summer holidays with our friends Pam & Peter and their
two daughters.
In 1963 one could rent a good sized log cabin there for $35 a week - just within our budgets. There were lawns, beaches, docks and boats, and trails for the kids to explore. The fishing was great and so was the climate.
Forty years later we're scattered, but all still alive, fairly healthy, greyer,
and maybe wiser...a lot of water has gone under the bridge since those days.
We lived for many years in an old rented house in Lynn Valley, North Vancouver.
It needed a lot of fixing, but sat on a huge lot with a low rent. Skunks and raccoons
were frequent visitors under, and sometimes into, the house.
Here in 1967 the
boys are loading up our aging Ford Consul ragtop to head out of the big city on
one of our many expeditions.
The boys spent many weekends and holidays on and around the ocean. As they
grew older they learned to row and sail without Dad. The wimpy boat in this 1967
photo was soon replaced by a sturdy sailing dinghy we carried on board the Davy
Jones.
My parents came out from England for a visit in 1963 and spent some holiday time
with us on Galiano, one of the BC Gulf Islands.
My talented granddaughter earned her place on this page by being the first
to search for and find my Web site.
